DUNA Board Machining

DUNA-USA manufactures a variety of foam products — commonly referred to as DUNA board — under the CORAFOAM® name. DUNA board can be machined or hand carved into a variety of shapes and sizes for both aesthetic and functional applications. It is of uniform density and won’t warp, crack or dry rot over time. It is also impermeable to water, making it a good choice for both indoor and outdoor applications.

American Micro Industries has extensive DUNA board machining capabilities. We can quickly turn around complex projects with a high degree of accuracy and quality control.

Low Density DUNA Board

Low-density CORAFOAM® DUNA board products offer excellent thermal insulating power, which makes them ideal for several industrial applications. However, DUNA board is typically not a cost-effective choice for residential insulation. Specific low-density DUNA board products include:

  • CORAFOAM® F: This is a closed-cell polyisocyanurate with a density rating between 1.8 and 2 lbs./ft3. CORAFOAM F is sold in blocks of various colors, and often used to produce artificial flowers.
  • CORAFOAM® P: This polyisocyanurate insulation is used in cryogenic pipes and fittings. It has a density between 2 and 3 lbs./ft 3 and is sold in 3-foot blocks that are easily worked into different shapes and sizes.
  • CORAFOAM® R: This is a low-density foam commonly used for carving in set and stage design applications.
  • CORAFOAM® RP HF: This a halogen-free polyurethane foam won’t corrode metal, making it an excellent choice for piping lining.

High Density DUNA Board

High-density DUNA board products include the company's U line, an alternative to wood which can be easily sandblasted or machined. It’s highly workable and doesn't require the use of fillers. Applications include sign making, composite layup tooling, thermoforming and prototyping, among others.

CORAFOAM® U DUNA board ranges in density from 4 to 31 lbs./ft3. American Micro Industries can help you identify the best choice for your application. We can machine 10 lb., 15 lb. and 20 lb. DUNA board or other rigid foam products to your specifications.
